A1GP Star QUINN LAUNCHES DUNBOYNE MOTOR CLUB 2008 EVENT
Dunboyne Motor Club launched their celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of bike and car racing held there in the 50’s & 60’s on Friday June 6th. A1GP driver and local man Niall Quinn was on hand to cut the ribbon along with Club President Mons. Edward Dunne, Councillor Noel Leonard and Mr John Naylor President of Motorsport Ireland. Club Chairman Seán Henry said “It's great to see such a huge turnout of cars, bikes and people here this evening, especially the A1GP Car & Niall, and this is just the launch!!” He went on to say “Dunboyne played a central part of the Motorsport calendar in the past and our event to celebrate 50 years since the first race will be held in the village on the 27th & 28th September this year”. Club Secretary and Event Co-ordinator Susan Ginnell commented “Plans for the event are well underway and the weekend will have something for the whole Community and Motorsport enthusiasts to enjoy”. Susan added “we will be issuing a press release within the next month that will give a full agenda for the weekend celebrations in September” A nostalgic DVD Slideshow of historic ('58-'67) and contemporary ('06-'07) pictures is available (price €15 from tim.crowley@upcmail.ie).
